812 Soulja'z - How We Livin' CS/12" sampler (Lay It Down, 1999)
Lone studio album from the ashes of 812 Faculty (now Soulja'z -- a trio comprised of Short Capone, Murda-1, and Killa-O). Original/unplayed '99 dead-stock copies of both the CS (full-length) and 12" (six-song sampler).
It's honestly refreshing how little of the 812/L.I.D. catalog consists of sexual/financial braggery by way of the steal-yer-girl and/or look-at-my-watch style lyricism that was so prevalent throughout their contemporaries' records. This is essentially armed-robbery music and consists of very little lyrical content outside of selling drugs and killing people. Almost in a proto-drill fashion, if not for the deceptively blinged out exterior and perhaps a few more "hooks" sprinkled here and there than were evident on the more primitive MMN comp or The Quarter.
Ever so slightly evolved as this may be, it's still some ice-cold Kentuckiana executioner shit. Pen & Pencil cover. Can't go wrong, yo.
