Copiers - Copiers LP (self-released, 2020)
Limited-edition / econo-assembled debut 12" from relatively new'ish Louisville band featuring some of the top dawgs in our bizarro rock pound. Six fresh (sorta) psych, kraut-influenced sideways jammers that wander effortlessly back and forth from rhythmic grüv-structure to experimental nether-regions.
Remember the DK3 "Neutrons" record on Quarterstick in the late '90s? No? Me neither...but I recently came across a copy in an Elizabethtown, KY Goodwill for 2 dollars. Something about it (not sure what, exactly) shares a kindred spirit with this one, if not an especially similar sonic approach. Perhaps the Duane Denison / Ken Vandermark matchup oozes a comparably jazz-scented brand of sensitive-caveman machismo? It's nuanced, not bludgeoning...
Cool shit made by cool dudes, nonetheless.
